IN021 THE ISLAND cover.inddthe island, jamie drouin, infrequency editions 2014

another intro-related announcement this week: work has finally properly begun on the framework introduction soundmap, inspired by and produced with the great help of the aporee soundmap’s udo noll. slowly, we have begun placing over 10 years of framework introductions on the map – it’s a big job and we could use your help! if you’ve even recorded an intro for framework, please get in touch and let us know where and when it was recorded! we need that info to get your recording in the right place. for a look at our (limited) progress so far, and info on recording a framework intro of your own, have a look here, or click intros in the menu above.

speaking of the aporee soundmap, this week (again thanks to mr. noll) sees the return of our aporee segment, featuring some user-chosen favorite recent uploads to the map. along with these we heard a very nice new release from jamie drouin, the latest offering from very quiet records, some self-released work from una lee, a lovely and also very quiet recording inside a church by michalis moschoutis, and a new release from laurent perrier reworking sound materials by lawrence english and gianluca becuzzi. this all began with the framework introduction, by jeremy hegge, that won our recent intro competition.

  1. I am really enjoying this beautiful episode. I especially love your descriptions of where you are in Estonia, and the incredibly soft and rural textures of the sounds around you. Beautiful. Thank you for the intimate, home-based transmission and for such a carefully curated and delicate mix of sounds. I especially enjoyed the section which sounded like a lot of tea-stirring in bone china, though I am not certain that was indeed the source. Thank you.
