GrDl_123_px1285iain armstrong, sacred and profane

this edition is coming to you from the wilds of jedburgh, scotland (although this playlist is being written on a glasgow-edinburgh train), and has had it’s talky-bits recorded in the back garden of regular framework contributor james wyness. meanwhile we have just spent the afternoon in glasgow, where i promise you we visited only one pub and drank one whisky, meeting with another longtime framework contributor, mark vernon, who’s name is about to become much more familiar to you, oh great framework listeners, as we announce the release of:
framework:seasonal, issue #5, summer 2013!

we’re going to try to properly hit every season this year, since we bothered to name our release series seasonal, and so we’re going to continue alternating between the compilation and single-artist formats. so our first ever summer edition is another single-artist release (although it features recordings by many different people, collected and curated by our single artist) and features a longtime favorite project of ours, mark vernon‘s archive of recordings from the east midlands tape recording clubs of the 60’s and 70’s. mark has put together a full 79 minutes for us of excerpts from this archives that focus specifically on field recording, and has included detailed notes, track information, and writing on the recordists and their project. he’s also produced an accompanying edition of framework:afield, which we’ll be airing next week to celebrate the release. this is really a great one, folks, we think you’re going to love it, so take this opportunity to support framework radio and preorder your copy now. usual conditions apply: you can, as of now, reserve a copy with a donation of 20€ or more made via paypal from the framework website. show us you care.

the ‘official’ release date for this issue is the summer solstice, june 21st. i know you’ll all turn a blind eye to the fact that i won’t be back in estonia and able to fill any orders until early july…

but on the show! this show features some great work, untreated recordings of sacred spaces, another wonderful release from the unfathomless label, artists from turkey, iceland, sweden, the uk, and the united states, and another framework intro from allentown, pennsylvania from scott sherk‘s sound art students.

again, we are always looking for new material, whether raw field recordings, field recording based composition, or introduction submissions. we are also now accepting proposals for full editions of our guest curated framework:afield series. send proposals or material, released or not, on any format, to the address at the bottom of this mail. if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
